“I hated going to school, often went home for lunch, and avoided certain areas where the girls would hang out.  My experiences taught me that it’s important not to bully those who bully you.”
~ Natalie Hall (All My Children)

The staff of “Who Will Save The Little Girl?” book club for girls would like to thank Ms. Brianna Brown (Dr. Lisa Niles on General Hospital) and Ms. Natalie Hall (Colby Chandler on All My Children). They both shared their personal insight on the abuse of bullying and the horrific issues caused by bullying among girls.

POWERFUL QUOTE FROM BRIANNA BROWN

“Growing up I was different. It wasn’t an obvious difference to me but it was as if I had a target on my back shouting for my youthful peers to throw their slanderous comments like arrows at me. I was ill equipped to handle these remarks as girls fight much differently then boys. ‘Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me’… couldn’t be further from the truth.

When looking back at the years of being bullied by various groups of girls whether in elementary school, middle school or high school I now see the purpose of those trying times. Not only did I learn to speak up for myself and defend myself, but I also used those negative experiences to provide purpose and motivation in my life to be the best version of me possible. So much so that it drove me to be a working actress, to form a women’s group where the dynamic of women is that of community and support versus negative competition.

As horrific as those times were I now am thankful to have had them as I am stronger, more resilient and am able to have the compassionate perspective to see that I was being victimized by very damaged little girls.

This too shall pass and know that you are not alone. Use these negative experiences as lessons, learn from them and let them skyrocket you to accomplishing your dreams. Don’t ever let the spewed poison hold you back. If I could do it…so can you.”

POWERFUL QUOTE FROM NATALIE HALL

“Growing up, I was bullied by older girls at school. I hated going to school, often went home for lunch, and avoided certain areas where the girls would hang out.  My experiences taught me that it’s important not to bully those who bully you.  Walk away and be the bigger person.  Surround yourself with people who support you and try to find a hobby or activity you love.  In the end, you’ll be the winner!

I started taking dance classes after school and met other girls who had the same interests as me.  They understood me and became amazing friends.  It’s difficult to be bullied, but it made me a stronger person.  If you focus on your passions and those who care about you, you will come out on top and grow into a better and stronger person than the bully will ever be!”
