As the Oath Project against bullying continues to grow within the community; Saving Our Daughters has now launched its mentoring component for teen girls called, Lunch N Learn. The campaign will focus on young teen girls residing from selected Boys & Girls Clubs and pairing them up with celebrity women behind the scenes in the entertainment world and who are powerful leaders within the industry.

The first lunch was in May with VH1 Publicity Manager, Nyle Washington-who joined as a mentor back in March. The Lunch N Learn session was in collaboration with Unit Director of Kips Bay Boys Girls Clubs of the Bronx, Yolonda Brisbane(far left in photo) and was held at Brooklyn Diner of Times Square.

We are crazy excited about the growing number of worldwide supporters of the “Oath Project” with spokesperson Keke Palmer. There’s still so much progress needed to prevent the tragedies and acts of abuse against teens, especially in building valuable adult support systems and confidence for youth.

Starting February 1st, VH1 will help further the message and action of the “Oath Project” and Inspired by T.I. & Tiny: The Family Hustle episode 6 in which T.I. gives daddy advice to his daughter, which that episode gave a POWERFUL nod to action step #1 of the OATH, “I will surround myself with people and activities that are civilly and socially appropriate.”

VH1 and T.I. will be definitely making a statement from the entrainment industry with the weekly post on facebook, to help encourage their show fans to help put an end to the senseless acts of bullying in 2012.

There has been much discussion on the “The Bully” movie that is due to be released. There are few films that move me to the point where I’m like, Oh s***. I can’t believe this is happening and it’s REAL LIFE. The documentary “Bully” (out on March 30) did just that. The film centers around several teens — some alive and some not — and how they (and their families) deal with bullying in the past and present (but hopefully not the future). However, this amazing, eye-opening film may not be accessible to the people who need to see it the most — students under the age of 18.

…Columbus and other leading men in film presented letters for Volume 2 of the Saving Our Daughters book series

During the time of the first initial books of Saving Our Daughters, one volume definitely stood out, Volume 2, which had leading men in film contributing letters on the sensitive subject of skin color prejudices with teens. The men on this volume cover included Idris Elba, Boris Kodjoe, and of course, Columbus Short.

Columbus’s support in volume 2 even had him collaborating in one of his leading film roles in “Armored” in 2009, with national television appearance as he discussed his efforts with Saving Our Daughters.

Many of Columbus’s outstanding past film roles include “Stop The Yard”, “This Christmas”, and “Cadillac Records”. We are so Exited on Columbus’s new role as the smart go-getter in sharp suits-attorney- as he plays the character, Harrison Wright, in the new ABC series Scandal.
