What a great summer for the girls of the Boys & Girls Club Gulf Coast of Mississippi, as on Tuesday July 17th, they enjoyed having an up close and personal Q&A session with Fox Empire and The Gifted actress, Grace Byers.
This year Grace has been devoted to speaking and encouraging her girls across the country, with her New York Times Best selling book, “I am Enough” along with her charity, Saving Our Daughters’ film/literacy initiative, My Celebrity Book Club.
The Boys & Girls Club of Gulf Coast will be joining the Saving Our Daughters in a new community partnership to help empower girls through film and literacy in the 2018-2019 school year. For more than 50 years, thousands of kids have found a better life and a brighter future thanks to an empowering, inspiring resource right in their neighborhood –the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Gulf Coast.
The goals at the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Gulf Coast is to provide members with a safe, fun, productive out of school time environment. Activities include sports, art instruction, good character and leadership, and healthy lifestyles. The national headquarters currently serves over 3,500 youth ages 5-18 along the Mississippi, Gulf Coast.
With Grace’s empowering work within the arts to deter bullying with her charity Saving Our Daughters, her impact on the skype session was heart felt throughout the whole Q&A, as the girls also colored in their own affirmations in coloring books to demonstrate how they are enough!
“The girls were so excited to get to meet Grace and ask her questions (and they loved her puppy)! We also discussed how our dreams grow when we believe in ourselves and our beliefs grow when we speaking to ourselves positively everyday. Our girls came up with some great positive affirmations and we even got to say a few out loud!”~ Crystal Scetching, Boys & Girls Club of Gulf Coast
The event was geared towards the club’s female members ages 5-8 and their parents who also received a copy of Grace’s book for the Q&A session as over 5 clubs participate in the discussion. What a Day!
