Naturi Naughton has no shortage of accomplishments. Her current work places her as a two-time recipient of the NAACP Image Award for “Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series,” for her work on Power, while she is currently filming ABC’s new hit series, Queens alongside esteemed Eve, Brandy and Nadine Velazquez.
Naughton is a musical artist and film actress best known for her performances as Lil’ Kim in Fox Searchlight’s film Notorious and her role in MGM’s remake of the cult classic, Fame.
In addition to her work on screen and on stage, Naturi also acts as an ambassador for the Saving Our Daughters Organization, working with girls from multicultural backgrounds through theater, film and literacy. The work of the program aims to aid participants in overcoming the many obstacles they face growing up, including conquering bullying and other self-esteem mowers.
On Thursday September 30th, Saving Our Daughters welcomed Naughton to help relaunch the Saving Our Cinderellas in person Cinderellas Classes in Atlanta. The event was particularly special as Naturi took some time off set to visit her proclaimed 3rd grade “Queens” of North Douglas County Elementary School. Naturi Naughton empowered the students and faculty by reading an excerpt from her Father’s (Ezra Naughton Jr.) inspirational book, Fable of Love.
During the remarkable re-launch session, the Cinderellas also had an opportunity to ask Naturi questions concerning the importance of reading and what her favorite children’s book was to read growing up. Saving Our Daughters is proud to safely return to in person events, and appreciative of Naturi Naughton as she takes time from her work to further build our community.
